Dublin v Tipperary

Dublin 2-13 Tipperary 1-15

A gripping opening to the Irish Daily Star National League and a first win for Dublin over their Munster rivals in several years.

Dublin led at one stage in the first half by 9 points after two goals in as many minutes from Áine Fanning and debutante Ali Twomey.  But Tipperary through the accuracy of free taker Cait Devane and a goal from Noreen Flanagan cut into Dublin's lead and at the finish Dublin's margin was down to the minimum.

Louise O'Hara, not for the first time, shone in the Dublin jersey and her 5 points from play were crucial.  All six Dublin forwards got on the scoresheet and wing forward Muireann O'Gorman was another to impress.

When the chips were down Dublin withstood the challenge with Tara Corrigan, Helen Cosgrave and a fine half back display from Fiona Hayes, Grainne Quinn and Catriona Power another of the highlights.  But at the end of the day it was a team performance from all concerned and a great boost to the start of the season.
