impressive Leah Butler drives forward and delivers long into the path of Elaine
Gallery who hammers home a fine goal.
Dublin off to a great start and playing into a very strong wind at Bray
Emmets superb complex.
Hard
to credit it then that Dublin were left to rely on the accuracy of freetaker
Georgina Kelly to draw the game.
Dublin
were the better side in the first half with Michelle Kelly, Leah Butler and
Gráinne Free on top in defence.
The
forward unit looked lively and with Georgina Kelly knocking over four frees
Dublin held a one goal advantage at the break 1-5 to 0-5.
As
in the first half Dublin were the first to strike and after 22 seconds Elaine
Gallery split the posts with a super point.
But despite the aid of a very stiff wind Dublin would only add one more
point from play – a great effort from Jennifer Browne in the 42
nd
minute.
Roscommon
however showed great character and composure to claw their way back.
Freetaker Kelly Hopkins found the range in the
first half with four efforts accompanied by a great point from play from Niamh
Farrell.
Their
physical strength in the half back line where Siobhan Coyle and Joanne Beattie
excelled began to nullify the Dublin challenge with the homeside badly missing
the physicality and craft of Carolanne Canning in the second period.
A
goal by Soaring Star Annette McGeeney in the 37
th
minute rallied
Roscommon and when she added her second in the 51
st
minute, the
Connacht side went in front for the first time by a point.
However
with five minutes remaining Georgina Kelly popped over the leveller for a share
of the spoils.
