Dublin v Kildare

Kildare 1 - 7  Dublin 0 - 4

The crucial score in this game came as early as the 2nd minute when Suzie Carroll broke clear to score a fine goal.  From there to the finish, the young Dubs matched the Lilywhites in most departments.

Following the Carroll goal, Dublin rallied and Niamh Adams pointed in the 10th minute.  However this was cancelled out by a Roisin O'Connell point to return Kildare's one goal advantage.

The quality of play from both sides in this first game of the season was keen and competitive with several fine passages of play.  The game marked the first intercounty camogie game to be played on the new pitch at Ballyboden St Endas Sancta Maria complex.  The Dublin Board is extremely grateful to the club for hosting the game.

With Ann Kirwan and Gráinne Quinn playing very solidly in the middle of the Dublin defence, the home forged their way upfield and were rewarded with points from Beibhin O'Neill and Jacqueline Elebert.  Another Suzie Carroll point stretched Kildare's lead but Dublin were unlucky not to goal from a penalty midway through the half.

Dublin fought bravely in the second half with Mairi Moynihan giving a towering display at midfield but with Lorraine Bowes superb in the Kildare backline Dublin badly needed a goal.

Suzie O'Carroll was a constant threat and was the main difference with some excellent finishes.
