Offaly v Dublin

Offaly 3-8  Dublin 0-14

Despite playing their first competitive game of the season, Offaly made the sharper start in this game.  Three first half goals - Rachel Brennan, Rebecca Hoctor and Catherine Kenna - played a huge part in their victory as did their 3-7 from play compared to Dublin's 3 points.

Dublin played with great resilience however and the superb accuracy from placed balls by Georgina Kelly saw them hold a one point advantage by half time, 0-10 to 3-1 with Dublin's two points from play coming from Lisa Berkeley.

However Michelle Davis was causing Dublin a lot of problems at centre forward and two points from her put Offaly back in front.

Dublin fought back and forced Offaly into conceding a number of frees.  However they never managed to create a clearcut goal chance whereas at the other end, the excellent Aisling Spillane was kept busy.

Georgina Kelly pointed three more on the trot to push Dublin one point clear by the 42nd minute but five points from play in the closing 23 minutes of play to one from Dublin a fine Cliona McCullough point was the difference at the finish.

An injury four minutes into added time to Shauna Duff was a huge cause of concern and an hour elapsed before the final minute could be played but Offaly defended well with their minor half back line of Lauren Keenaghan, Kelly Sammon and Edel O'Meara superb.

Scorers: Georgina Kelly (0-11f), Lisa Berkeley (0-2) and Cliona McCullough (0-1)
