Laois v Dublin

Dublin 0-14  Laois 0-7

The accuracy of Georgina Kelly from placed balls was vital for Dublin in this top of the table clash with Laois at Rathdowney.  The midfielder split the posts on 10 occasions - 9 from placed balls and gave her side a decided advantage.

Both defences were very sound - so much that neither 'keeper had a goal bound shot to stop for the entire game.

Laois, aided by the breeze, opened first with a point from Louise Mahoney but Carolanne Canning put Elaine Gallery clear with a fine pass and the captain levelled the game.  From there to half-time the sides traded scores - Georgina Kelly from frees and points from Niamh Dollard, Rosemary Birmingham and Olga Parkinson.  But the signs were good for Dublin as they always looked composed with Michelle Kelly settling in well at centre back and Gráinne Ryan commanding at No. 3.  Dublin got a big boost just before half-time when Paula Lohan pointed to give Dublin the lead at the break 0-6 to 0-5.

Within 50 seconds of the restart, Georgina Kelly raised her tally to 0-5 and although Louise Mahoney brought the gap back to a point in the 32nd minute - bit by bit Dublin edged in front.  Ali McGrath fired over another fine point before five Georgina Kelly points on the trot pushed Dublin 0-13 to 0-8 clear.

In the second half Dublin introduced Shauna Duff, Clodagh McGough, Fiona Ní Shúilleabháin, Rachel O'Connor, Lisa Berkeley, Emma Flanagan and Laoise Quinn who grabbed Dublin's last point from play.
