Dublin v Wexford

Wexford 4-17  Dublin 1-6

Minus their minor contingent and with a number of others ruled out due to injuries and exams, Dublin were always going to find this an uphill struggle against the All-Ireland champions.  But despite that they put up a game battle and for a 20 minutes spell in the first half matched Wexford puck for puck.

Karina Parrock was in blinding form and handpassed to the net twice in the first 6 minutes.  But Dublin enjoyed a very good spell for the next 20 minutes or so with three pointed frees from Louise O'Hara and a great point from play by Amy Murphy.  Corner backs Catriona Power and Elaine O'Meara were hurling very well but when Dublin failed to clear their lines in the 27th minute Karina Parrock with put clean through for her third goal.

The same player brought her tally to four a minute into the second half and at that stage Dublin were in damage limitation zone.  Aoife Bugler did well to work the ball into the small box where Hannah McInerney found the net to give Dublin a brief response but when you can call the likes of Ursula Jacob off the bench one gets an idea of the strength of the Wexford panel.

They gave an exhibition of point scoring from all ranges and angles.  The one bright light in the closing minutes from a Dublin point of view was a great run and finish by Orlaith Durkan for the side's last point.

Helen Cosgrave, Catriona Power, Gráinne Quinn, Elaine O'Meara, Fiona Hayes, Ali Maguire, Arlene Cushen, Louise O'Hara (0-4), Emer McCarthy, Ciara Burgess, Amy Murphy (0-1), Hannah McInerney (1-0), Aine Fanning, Sarah Ryan, Aisling Carolan
