That feeling is not something we ever want to experience again

(06 Sep 2018)

Dublin face Kerry this Sunday in the Liberty Insurance All-Ireland Premier Junior Championship Final in Croke Park. Throw-in is set for 12noon with the Dubs hoping to make amends for last year’s Final defeat to Westmeath.

We caught up with Dublin captain Emer Keenan ahead of what promises to be a thrilling match.

Q. So, Emer, coming into your match against Kerry, how have preparations been going?
"Preparations have been excellent so far. Throughout the last couple of weeks there’s been a great level of excitement within the camp. We’re all really looking forward to getting back to Croke Park on Sunday and just can’t wait to get out on the pitch."

Q. Has your mindset changed at all coming into what promises to be a thrilling encounter against a strong Kerry side?
"I suppose it hasn’t changed for us in a way. We know it’s a final, but everyone’s just been getting their heads down and working hard. We’ve been training really hard and pushing each other as hard as we can in order to get the best team performance on the big day."

Q. How does your team plan on managing your emotions having come some close last year?
"I think after coming so close last year, that feeling is not something we ever want to experience again at the final whistle. Emotions won’t be a huge factor for us. I suppose on the morning of the match there’ll be a few nerves but as soon as we get onto that pitch and into the warm-up it just becomes another game and that’s what we’ll be focusing on."
