Division 1 Féile Final. BBSE v Lucan Sarsfields.

(01 Apr 2019)

Lucan Sarsfields and Ballyboden St Endas met in the final of Division 1 Feile in Lorcan O'Toole Park in sunny conditions after hard fought campaigns the day before. Both teams lost their game on Saturday morning but fought back to win their second and take their place as runner up in their groups. Lucan defeated the hosts Naomh Maurs and Ballyboden defeated Naomh Brigid to earn their places in the final.
The final was tight and tough with Lucan having the bulk of the possession in the first half and stellar performances from midfield and defence for both teams. Lucan looked dangerous on several occasions with a couple of heart stopping near miss scoring chances which they didn’t manage to convert.
The first half concluded with only one score on the board, from a free by Lucan’s Aoibheann Stokes. The half time score was Lucan 0-1 BBSE 0-0.
The second half continued in the same vein. With a lot of attacks from both teams that were quelled by the other's defence. BBSE eventually equalised well into the second half with a point from play. It was then neck and neck until Boden scored a goal with less than five minutes left in the game with a second following shortly afterwards. The Lucan girls never gave up and every member of the team fought tooth and nail to the end but were unable to pull it back.

Final score was Lucan 0-1    BBSE 2-1.
Both teams need to be commended for their performance on the day with some of the plays similar to what you would see in a senior camogie match. The fact that all are u14 gives great hope for camogie in Dublin.
