Camogie Notes Monday, 18 May 2011

All Ireland Féile Skills Competition: Best of luck to Dublin’s Hannah Clarke from Round Towers when she competes in the All Ireland Féile Skills final which takes place in Portlaoise 6 June. (Hannah won the Dublin Féile Skills competition in Silver Park in April)

Intercounty: Leinster Senior Championship: Tough luck on the Dublin Senior team who lost 0-07 to 2-11 to Offaly in Saturday's Leinster Senior Championship semi-final at DCU Sports Centre. The players will be disappointed with their overall performance. But they will regroup as they prepare for the All Ireland championship where they will meet Kilkenny, Clare, Tipperary and Derry in their group.

Gael Linn Tournament. Well done to the Dublin girls Elaine Gallery, Aisling Spillane, Jennifer Browne, Danielle Powell and CarolAnne Canning who were on the Leinster panel for this year’s Junior Gael Linn Tournamen. Leinster lost to eventual winners Ulster in a thrilling semi-final. Leinster 3-12 Ulster 3-16

Summer Cup 2015: An Rúnaí will send invitations/applications to each club for participation in this year’s Summer Cup. There will be 3 groups similar to last year. Group1 (Div 1, 2 and 3), Group 2 (Div 4 and 5) and Group 3 (Div 6and 7) and the competition is expected to run from mid-June to end of July. Last year’s competition was very successful giving as it does games to our club players who are not involved on county panels.

Poc Fada 2015: Each club is encouraged to hold its own Poc Fada competition at under 14, under 16 and Adult level. Dublin will announce details of its competitions within the next few days.

Registrations: All players who were originally registered with the County Board are now registered with Croke Park in accordance with the new system. Clubs must insure that all new players are registered with Croke Park. Failure to do so has serious implications for insurance and eligibility.

Insurance: Clubs are reminded that a copy the club’s insurance should be forwarded to An Rúnaí of the County Board without delay.

Mentors: Clubs are reminded that all mentors and adults dealing with underage players and teams must be Garda vetted and must have attended a child protection course. This is now a legal requirement.

Hurl Smart: The Camogie Association in conjunction with the Nutrition and Health Foundation are running their 4th annual Hurl Smart Week from the 1st to 7th June. Run a ‘Hurl Smart Week’ in your club and be in with the chance to bring your club Camogie under 12 team to Croke Park in July! Just register your club’s interest, run a ‘Hurl Smart Week’, submit a report of events and you could be in with a chance to play in Croke Park. See www.camogie.ie for further details.
