The exciting news was revealed by the Camogie Association at the launch in Croke Park today, with Liberty Insurance adding to the excitement by announcing that it will run an innovative summer campaign – ‘Squad Goals’ – designed to find Ireland’s most skilful Camogie squad.

Having broadcast the 2016 All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championship Semi-Finals live for the first time, RTÉ have now committed to broadcasting this year’s Quarter-Finals, as well as the showpiece All-Ireland Finals in Croke Park on Sunday, September 10th.

In addition the Camogie Association also announced a new initiative for Intermediate and Premier Junior Championship counties to produce match highlights from selected matches throughout the summer. Funding will be made available to counties to record matches and produce highlights to be released via the Association’s Social Media channels.

Growing Broadcast Coverage

Launching this year’s Championship, Camogie Association President Catherine Neary said that live television coverage of the Quarter-Finals for the first time underlined the continued growing appeal of Camogie on the national stage.

“Camogie is one of the fastest-growing games in the country right now, with more people watching and playing than ever before,” said Ms Neary. “Increased live coverage of the All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championship is not only a huge additional carrot for all teams to reach the Quarter-Finals but an extra opportunity for TV viewers to enjoy the thrilling spectacle of top-level Camogie.”
