Following a serious injury in a Senior 1 Championship group game last Sunday between Na Fianna & Lucan Sarsfields, the match was abandoned in order to allow medical treatment for the Lucan Sarsfields player.  The winner of this game would top Group 2 (Senior 1 Champ) with the losers filling the runner up spot in the same group.  The Board endeavored to get this game played this evening (Tuesday) and had secured the main playing pitch in Abbotstown for this purpose.  Unfortunately the Board were unsuccessful in this respect with the "5 day notification rule" being invoked.

The Board will now rescheduled the fixture between Na Fianna & Lucan Sarsfields to Sunday 7th Oct at 10-30am in Mobhi Road.  The knock on effect of this will mean the rescheduling of our Senior 1 Championship as follows...

33.2. For all competitions, participating Units will be notified of the date of a fixture by the Unit Secretary or by a Fixtures Sub-Committee delegated this task in accordance with the following timeframes: • at least five days email notice for competitions run by County Boards unless otherwise provided for in County bye-laws; • at least five days e-mail notice for all Inter County and All-Ireland competitions. E-mail notification of venue and time must be given no later than 48 hours prior to the fixture.

33.3. Where a team has been notified in accordance with Rule 33.2 of a fixture and fails to fulfill that fixture, the committee in charge of the competition must impose the following penalties: • in all cases the match will be awarded to that team’s opponents in the fixture; • in the case of leagues or championships run on a league basis the defaulting team(s) will be deducted the equivalent to the points awarded for a win in that competition. • In the case of national inter-county, club or inter-provincial competitions under Ard Chomhairle’s auspices, any team who concedes a game cannot progress to the knock-out stages of a competition, i.e. quarter-final, semi-final or final.
