The trials for the U14 Development squad will Commence Sunday 11th January in St Brigids GAA, Navan Road at 8.30AM.
As there are huge numbers attending the trials we will be splitting it over the coming weeks.
Sunday 11th & 18th January will be a Skills trials only with the girls having to complete 4 skills – please see the attached document that they will be asked to perform on the day.
We have identified the dual players who are attending Football trials this coming Sunday so in order to accommodate them, they have been allocated to the Skills Trials Session on Sunday 18th.

Once they have completed the 4 skills they are dismissed.

U14 Skills Trials 2015
1. GROUND STRIKING
- Six sliotair are placed on the 15metre line 4 metres apart.
- Players must run to and strike on the ground from alternate sides. The sliotar must travel a distance of 15 metres.
- Once Sliotar has been touched, it cannot be struck again.
Score: 5 points per sliotar.
Total Score: 30 points.
2 JAB LIFT AND STRIKE
Goal Centre
- Four sliotair are placed on the 15 metre line, 8 metres apart as shown.
- Players must jab lift the sliotar into the hand and strike it on the run to pass over the bar from the right side.
- When the player has completed the first part of this skill four more sliotair are placed on the 15 metre line as above and the player strikes the sliotar from the left side.
- If players misses the sliotar in the jab lift, that sliotar is then void.
Score: 3 points for Striking Sliotar
10 in total if sliotar crosses the cross bar
Total Score: 80 points.
NB. It is permissable for the player to commence striking the sliotar on her left side provided she strikes the second lot of sliotair on her right side.
3. LIFT, SOLO AND GOAL
- Two sliothars are placed on the 35 metre line, ten metres either side of centre.
- Player runs from 45 metre line, jab lifts the ball on to her stick without handling it and solos forward.
- Before reaching the outside of the flag on the 25 metre line, she takes the ball in her hand and strikes it from her right into the empty net.
- The player strikes the second ball from her left.
- If players drops the sliotar on the solo run – that sliotar is void.
Score: 5 points per completed solo.
15 points in total for goal scored.
Total Score: 30 points.
