under 13 and under 15 Juvenile Championship finals 2016

(23 Oct 2016)

under 13 and under 15 Championship 2016 results.

Today's 8 juvenile championship finals and 8 shield finals complete this year's underage championship fare. 34 finals over the weekend has been a mammoth undertaking and we are delighted to report that it has been very successful. Again we had some terrific championship finals today - skill, sportsmanshop and commitment much in evidence. We witnessed the inevitable agony and ecstasy as fortunes fluctuated and finals were decided. Well done to everyone involved administrators, referees, mentors and especially our young players - the stars of the future.

The Executive of the County Board thanks Naomh Brid, Naomh Peregrine, Crumlin and the Dublin GAA County Board for the use of their facilities and for hosting today's championship finals. Well done to the members of the Executive who were on duty during the finals.

Sunday, 23nd October.

Boden take their goal chances to win under 13 championship final.

Two well-matched competitive teams competed sportingly in this under 13A final at O’Toole Park on Sunday. After 10 minutes of competitive play there was still no score on the board. Then somewhat against the run of play Boden went ahead with a goal from Kate Quinlivan and a point from Jennifer Hanrahan. Judes replied with 2 points from Ellie Young, their best on the day. But it was Ballyboden’s ability to score goals from the chances they created that was the deciding factor in this game as Jennifer Hanrahan and Julia Vaughan goals put Ballyboden firmly in the driving seat. Points from Boden’s Julie Hanrahan and Jude’s Ellie Young left the score at half time Boden 3-2 Judes 0-2.

Just like the first half the second half was competitive with little separating the teams as the play ebbed and flowed from one end of the field to the other. Jennifer Hanrahan and Ellie Young, top scorers for each team, exchanged early points. Jennifer’s goal on ten minutes gave Boden an 11 point lead and put them firmly on the road to victory. But in fairness to the St. Judes girls they never gave up. Late rallies earned them 1-3 but it was not enough. When referee, Michelle O’Hurley who  had an excellent game, called halt to proceedings Ballyboden were worthy champions on a score line Ballyboden St. Endas 4-4 Naomh Jude 1-7.

Lucan take under 15A title in style.

Within the first half minute Lucan had their first score of this under 15A championship final played at O’Toole on Sunday, a point from Laura Quinn. Minutes Lucan were awarded a penalty, which did not meet with universal approval. The well struck shot was saved but Chloe O’Connor lashed the rebound to the back of the net giving Lucan a dream start. They were on their way to the title. The game ebbed and flowed up and down the pitch but Kilmacud were unable to breech the hard working Lucan defence. For the remainder of the half Lucan outscored Crokes 6 points to two to leave the score at half time Lucan 1-7 Kilmacud 0-2

After the restart Kilmacud missed a free and from the ensuing puck out Lucan gained possession, were awarded a free which Laura Quinn converted – all in the space of the first minute. It wasn’t to be Kilmacud’s day. Lucan scored 2-4 during the second half. But Kilmacud never stopped competing valiantly. The game ended in a welter of excitement as Kilmacud scored two late goals. But it was too late. Final score Lucan Sarsfields 3-11 Kilmacud Crokes 2-3

Well done to both sets of players.
