2 Dublin teams participated in the Munster U15 Blitz at Mallow GAA Complex last Sunday week. With so many girls away this time of year, 7 U14 girls stepped up to the U15 ranks for the day. Cork had 2 U15 teams and 1 U16 team, Dublin had 2, and Limerick, Clare and Kerry had 1 each.Dublin were trying out new players and using the games to look at strength and depth for 2012.
The best game of the day was the Dublin U15As against Cork U16Bs. Dublin included U14s Jenny Ryan and Aoife Molloy in their lineout. Niamh Byrne, Sarah Nagle, and team Captain Annemarie Courtney were outstanding in the backs and found Aoife Molloy and Eve Kehoe wide on the wings on many occasions.
Player of the Blitz Doireann Mullany and St Vincent’s Mary Cronin worked hard at Midfield. The front line forwards Martha O’Donohue, Laura Mulvey and Laura Morrissey combined well together with Laura Morrissey getting 2 smashing goals. It was valuable experience for all the girls. The final blitz of the year is a big affair here in Dublin on 10th September.
