Under 14 Clarification

(11 Jan 2017)

Note from Secretary

I am aware that there exists some confusion between the term  "U-14 Academy" and the "U-14 Development Squad".  In order to shed some light on this issue, can I just state the following......

  • "U-14 Academy" with lead mentor Ambrose Curry is for girls born in 2004
  • "U14 Development" with lead mentor Alan Buckley is for girls born in 2003

The details below refer to U-14 Development (2003).  (Alan Buckley)

Clubs wishing to send girls to this group should contact Jo O'Reilly (contact details on the attached) directly.

A Chairde,

Dublin County Board would like to invite clubs to nominate players they believe to be of potential Inter county standard to attend the 2017 Dublin U14 Camogie School of Excellence.

As we have all ready seen a large number of girls in Nov, clubs are offered the opportunity to nominate a max of one player who they believe to be of inter-county standard. If you do not have a player you feel is of this standard, we would ask that you refrain from nominating.

If your club wishes to nominate a player, you must adhere to the following

Nomination criteria

(If your club sent in nominations in Oct 2016) The player nominated should be one of the girls who were nominated from your club in Oct & took part in either of the two sessions in Abbotstown.

If your club did not nominate a player in Oct, & you wish to nominate one now, we would ask you to really consider if your player has improved to the standard of inter county since then.

They should be available from Fri 20th Jan until Fri 17th  Feb

All Players nominated should at a minimum be able to:

  • Strike from hand stationary x 2 sides/moving on strong side
  • Jab-lift the ball while moving at pace
  • Catch the ball comfortably
  • Hook and block
  • Be combative and competitive in general play

Please refrain from nominating any players who were part of the Dublin U13 development Squad in 2016

If these criteria are not adhered to, players nominated are at risk of being de-motivated and embarrassed at the sessions and/or disappointed if not invited to join the dev Squad. We ask that clubs do not use nominations as a “reward” system.

Following the School of Excellence players who meet the required standard may be invited to join 2017 U14 Squad.

Nominations are to be sent to Jo O'Reilly, on 086 8410359 no later than end of business on Fri 13th Jan. No nominations will be accepted after this time. No exceptions.

Nomination details should include,

Name, DOB, address, normal playing position & parental contact.

Regards

U14 DDS Management
