Under 13 Development Squad Update

(25 Mar 2010)

As you are aware, as mentors / club camogie correspondent, a team/club member/s has been selected on the Under 13 Development Squad. We would like to outline our immediate plans for the “DEVELOPMENT” squad and would much appreciate if you could convey this information to the appropriate people in your club, the team member and their parents.

1)       As this is a “DEVELOPMENT” squad, it is intended to complement and accommodate the girls club training session/matches so with this in mind, training will at more irregular session for the time being, possibly every second week. We will notify the girls at the sessions and you the mentors/clubs as much as possible but would ask you to encourage the girls/parents to continue to closely monitor the web site www.dublincamogie.ie for postings regarding this Development squad.

a)       We will train this coming Sunday 28th March at 9 am again in St Brigids, Navan Road.

b)       Girls are expected to be on the pitch ready to train at 9am sharp please, not arriving to venue at 9.

c)       All girls at this level are expected to bring 2 hurls with them at all times for training and matches.

d)   Please afford the mentors the courtesy of being told when girls will not be attending training/matches.

2)         We intend to enter the girls into upcoming Blitz competitions around Ireland. These trips will be “DAY” trips only leaving early morning and returning late evenings.            Transport will be provided for the girls. We intend to enter teams into the following:-

            A)         Sunday May 2nd Bank Holiday Weekend  -           Clare Blitz

B)         Sunday June 6th Bank Holiday Weekend -            Cork Blitz

C)         July – dates to be confirmed                               Dublin Blitz

We also intend to arrange inter county matches at later dates in the year and will advise these in due course.

As the above dates are traditionally times when families are away, would ask that you confirm ASAP names of girls that will be available on the above two bank holiday weekends so that we can determine how many teams to enter in each blitz. There will be plenty of opportunities for the girls to play in the Dublin colours throughout the year.

We cannot stress enough that this is a “DEVELOPMENT SQUAD” for both the players and the mentors and it will only be successful if we have the commitment and support of players, mentors, clubs and parents.

We look forward to exciting year ahead and to girls making new friends and having FUN with camogie.

Kind Regards

Dublin Camogie Development Mentors.
