The legendary Úna O'Connor has passed away.

Úna played in the golden era of Dublin camogie winning 13 senior ALL Ireland medals coming next to her fellow legend Kathleen Mills. Úna played for the famed Celtic club having been spoted by Celtic playing with the boys on her road.
Her intercounty career went from 1953 to 1967. Ten of her All Ireland medals were in a row. She was the first camogie player to be awarded the Caltex Award (later known as Texaco). A prolific forward she combined well with Judy Doyle to create great scores and cause heart ache for defenders.
Úna played in the era when the Phoenix Park would have been her camogie home. A witty,good humoured player she played with a short stick which is so much in vogue today.
She was also a member of the Celtic club who won the inaugural All Ireland club championship in 1964. The Dublin side defeated Deirdre of Antrim with the lethal forward scoring.3_1 on the day.

O’Connor, Una (Marino, Dublin) passed away 3rd March 2020 (peacefully) in the wonderful care of the staff of Care Choice Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family. She will be very sadly missed by her loving family, sister Patricia, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, relatives and friends.
Reposing at Jennings Funeral Home, Oscar Traynor Rd, Coolock on Friday from 4pm until 6pm. Removal on Saturday morning to The Church of St. Vincent de Paul Church, Marino, to arrive for 11.30am Funeral Mass, followed by cremation at Glasnevin Crematorium. Family flowers only please, donations, if desired, to Dogs Trust Ireland.
