Naomh Brid 2-2 Lucan Sarsfields 0-4
Lucan Sarsfields made the short trip to Russell Park for this mouth-watering top-of the table clash. In their previous meeting, only one point seperated the sides.
Naomh Bríd scored a goal within a minute and this score plus a Lucan miss by inches were telling factors that aided the home side to lead 2-2 to 0-2 at half time.
Within 3 minutes of the restart Lucan had the ball over the bar to reduce the deficit to 5 points. Such was the brilliance of both defences that only one point was scored (for Lucan) in the final 27 minutes.
Marian Flynn was outstanding in defence for Lucan clearing her lines with great confidence time and again while Emer Keenan was menacing in the forwards every time she got the ball.
The Naomh Bríd half-back line of Anne Kirwan, Paula Bruen and Lorraine O'Connell were brilliant on the night.
Overall a well contested game by both teams where no quarter was asked or given.
