Note from County Board Chair Marie O'Brien
We are asking you to check with your club members or officials if they could give JUST 2 and a half hours of their time to a most worthy cause that takes place in Thomas Davis Club on July 24 th next.
12 clubs in Leinster – approx 300 camogie players from the Leinster region will participate in a youth camogie blitz at the Thomas Davis GAA club Tallaght. This is the first ever U16 (Feile type) camogie competition in Ireland. Leinster host the first and it is hoped that this will in time actually become an All-Ireland U 16 Feile Tournament if it is a success.
Entitled ‘Pink Day’ this event has been organised in conjunction with the Marie Keating Foundation, The Camogie Association, Leinster Council and Thomas Davis GAA and Camogie Club.
‘Pink Day’ aims to promote the sport of camogie amongst females aged 14 to 16 years of age and simultaneously raise awareness of breast cancer and help raise much needed funds for the Marie Keating Foundation.
The Foundation was founded in 1998 by the Keating family, following the death of their mother, Marie Keating from breast cancer. The organisation aims to increase awareness of breast cancer, promote early detection and work with similar groups and organisations.
‘Pink Day 2010’ intends to raise €10,000 for the Marie Keating Foundation and we would like you to play an invaluable role in our mammoth fundraising drive.
Eve Talbot is the organiser and could you see if you could get just 2 umpires to give 2.5 hours on Saturday July 24 th for either of the 2 times slots: 11 – 1.30pm or from 1.30pm to 4pm.
IT IS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO SUPPORT THE AWARENESS OF BREAST CANCER AND YOUR OWN ASSOCIATION AND WONDERFUL GAME OF CAMOGIE.
Please email Eve Talbot eve@camogie.ie and copy Germaine Noonan gnoonan@bitc.ie by July 4 th.
Many, many thanks in advance.
