Lucan Sarsfields claim Senior B title
Lucan claimed this year’s Senior B championship title and promotion to Senior A status when they defeated a hardworking St. Vincents team at Trinity Gael grounds on Saturday on a score line 4-11 to 1-2.
Lucan got off to a flying start and were 1-3 to the good after the first 6 minutes, the goal from Laura Murtagh and points from Michelle Kelly, Alison Twomey and Emma Flanagan. Vincent’s replied with a Siobhan Tracy point from a 45. Points from Alison Twomey and Caroline Flynn kept the Lucan scoreboard moving along. Vincents scored a pointed free from Siobhan Tracy but Lucan continued to dominate the game and strongly finished the half adding 2-4 in the last 10 minutes of the half –points from Emma Flanagan, captain Emer Keegan and Caroline Flynn , who also scored the goal on the stroke of half time. Half time score Lucan 2-9 St. Vincents 0-2.
Lucan’s Alison Twomey added a pointed free at the start of the second half. Vincents put in a great effort in the second half. Both sets of defenders worked tirelessly and were dominant. No forwards from either managed to score for the next 20 minutes. But Lucan produced 2 goals and a point in the last 8 minutes while Vincents had a consolation goal on the hour mark. Final score Lucan Sarsfields 4-11 St. Vincents 1-2.
Lucan's Audrey Murtagh was awarded Player of the Final trophy for her brilliant display in the middle of the field.
Faughs/Celtic capture Junior A title.
Faughs/Celtic claimed this year’s Junior A championship title when they defeated a hardworking Naomh Brid team at Naomh Mearnog grounds on Saturday on a score line 3-6 to 1-2.
Naomh Brid opened the scoring with a point on 3 minutes. But Faughs dominated the first half with fine performances all over the field. Scorers in chief were Siobhan Heavey 1-3 and Olivia Rush 1-1. Half time score Faughs/Celtic 2-4 Naomh Brid 0-2.
Naomh Brid battled bravely in the second half with great performances throughout the field. But scores were hard to come by right throughout the half. Faughs had points from Margaret Littleton (free) and 45 and a goal from Julie Keeffe. Naomh Brid replied with a goal to leave the final score Faughs/Celtic 3-6 Naomh Brid 1-2.

Setanta capture Junior B title in style
Setanta proved too strong for Erins Isles in the Junior B final played at Naomh Mearnog’s superb grounds on Saturday. Erins Isle were unable to get a foothold in this game as a younger Setanta side took control scoring an unanswered 2-5 in the first half. Unfortunately for Isles the second half proved just as difficult despite their best efforts. Setanta eventually ran out winners 4-9 to 0-0. Setanta's Rebecca Doherty was outstanding throughout and was rightly honoured with the Player of the Final trophy.
Trinity Gaels grab Intermediate B victory in thrilling final.
Trinity Gaels scored a long range goal on the stroke of full time to captured the Intermediate B final with the last puck of the game. It was such an exciting game! Trinity Gaels and Clanna Gael Fontenoy served up the most exciting game of the afternoon. There was nothing between the sidesthroughout in this exciting game. A point separated the sides at half time 2-3 to 2-2 in favour of Trinity Gaels.
The struggle continued throughout the second half. Coming into the last 10 minutes Clanna Gael Fontenoy were 2 points ahead. Trinity put Clanna Gael under continued enormous pressure but their backs were magnificent in defence with Gillian Early outstanding in goals giving a superb display of shot-stopping. How ironic that the vital winning goal should arrive just as injury time was up. Final score Trinity Gaels 3-3 Clanna Gael Fontenoy 2-5.
Trinity Gaels lost last year’s final in similar circumstances but they were not to be denied this year. Dublin Junior squad members Grainne Free, Caroline Quinn and Leanne Walshe starred for Trinity. Clanna Gael Fontenoy's outstanding Sarah Ryan was awarded Player of the Final for her brilliant display in defense.
