A fine crowd turned out in Tymon North to witness a cracking game in the Preliminary Round of the OZO senior championship which went right down to the final whistle.
A brilliant display by Tara Corrigan in attack and defence played a huge part in Naomh Jude's 1 - 9 to 1 - 8 win over the newly formed "Regional" team. Fellow Dub Aoife Kelly was also prominent while for the newcomers Amy Murphy was a constant threat. Well done to the Regional team and mentors who had 36 players to pick from for this inaugural match.
At Ashtown, Ballyboden St Endas had matters very much their own way against a very young St Oliver Plunketts/Eoghan Ruadh team playing in their first senior championship game.
Emer Lucey was in brilliant form and by half time had bagged 2 - 2. Further goals by Sharon Glynn and Fiona Ní Chorcoráin saw the visitors lead by 4 - 5 to nil at half-time.
The pressure never relented and Plunketts sole response was an Aisling Carolan pointed free.
It was a tough baptism for the northsiders but youth is on their side.
