OZO Senior A Semi Finals on Sunday in Trinity Gaels

(19 Sep 2011)

Erins Isle displayed great passion and skill when they overcame a young St Vincents side to set up a rematch with Ballyboden St Endas on Sunday in Trinity Gaels.

Dawn Barry gave the Finglas side the lead after only 30 second and they were never led.  Displaying the more direct camogie, Isles were physically stronger and by half time had built up a 1-8 to 0-1 lead. They received a huge boost a minute after the restart when Amy Murphy grabbed her second goal.

Although Vincents fought gamely especially with the introduction of flu victim Ali Maguire and Aideen Naughton showed tremendous willingness to battle. Through her accuracy and that of Claire Donnelly they cut the gap to 2-8 to 0-5 by the 40th minute.  But a third Amy Murphy goal from a superb flick by Lynn Devoy sealed victory.

Amy Murphy finished with 3-2 followed by 0-4 from Julie Draper.  Vincents Aideen Naughton accounted for 0-5 of the Marino side tally.  Under 16 player Aisling Maher played soundly in goals for Vincents and Isles had great performances from Valerie Reaney, Lisa Doogan and Gillian McCluskey.

A late Anne Griffin goal clinched victory for Ballyboden St Endas against Good Counsel who fought every inch of the way.
