Lisdowney 5 - 9 Naomh Bríd 3 - 2

Although the scoreline suggests a comfortable win for Lisdowney of Kilkenny, for long spells Naomh Bríd were well in contention. But the Blanchardstown side leaked a number of soft goals and this had a major bearing on the outcome. This was the inaugural Leinster Intermediate Club quarter final.
For the first 20 minutes of this game, Naomh Bríd were the better team but this was not reflected on the scoreboard. An early point by Emma Sweeney from a free was quickly erased when the home side conceded a rather soft goal from Sandra Gleeson.
But with Niamh Adams hurling well at midfield, Naomh Bríd regained the lead in the 14th minute when Aisling Kelly's overhead flick found the net.
But the visitors did serious damage in a ten minutes spell before half-time. Firstly dangerous corner forward Emma Brophy goaled and before the interval whistle could be sounded Aoife Murphy had added a third to give Lisdowney a 3-3 to 1-2 lead. Naomh Bríd also suffered a bad blow when Trish Bruen had to retire injured.
Naomh Bríd had outstanding performances from Paula Bruen and Lorraine O'Connell and they came right back into the game when Sherry Mannion scored a superb goal to cut the gap to 3-4 to 2-2. But Lisdowney had an outstanding centre back in Claire Phelan and she knocked over a number of excellent long-range frees.
Anne Kirwan and Elaine Duncan fought bravely at midfield but as Naomh Bríd pressed forward they were hit on the break for two goals late in the game from Siobhan Holland.
Naomh Bríd didn't relent and Anne Kirwan got a great goal just before the finish.
