Kilmacud Crokes are Senior 2 Champions

(07 Nov 2019)

In front of a huge crowd of spectators there were tears of joy shed for Kilmacud Crokes as they reached Senior 1 status for the first time in their history after a win over SOPER in the We Are Dublin Div 2 Dublin Camogie final at Abbotstown tonight.

It was a cold rainy night in difficult conditions for both sides but it was Kilmacud Crokes who lead the way from throw in.

At half time Kilmacud Crokes were 1.04 to 0.03 up and they stayed on top for the remainder of the game, being very lively with a mix of youth and experience all over the pitch.

SOPER increased their score by a point from a free in the second half mainly due to an outstanding game by the Crokes goalkeeper Ciara Jones who although it was a cold night plucked ball after ball out of the sky and batted down other efforts to the Kilmacud Crokes player of the match Isabelle Davis who could do no wrong, she came out of every ruc with the sliotar and the ball stuck like glue to her hurley throughout the match.

A proud day for all at Kilmacud Crokes - especially for the stalwarts who have done so much over the years like Ann and Mick Noctor and Gerry Mc Gough (who was seen running down the pitch with joy like Usian Bolt)  to join the celebrations.

Full time score 1.07 to 0.04

Player of the match was Isabelle Davis, Kilmacud Crokes.
Commiserations to SOPER
