(14 May 2011)

All games superbly hosted in Tymon Park by Faughs/Celtic.  Many thanks also to Cuala and Naomh Mearnóg for hosting Saturday's Division 2 and 3 series of games.  Well done to Mary Gibney, Patsy Powell, Mona O'Sullivan, Aoife Maguire, Seamus Massey and all who helped in any way.

Division 1  Naomh Jude 2 - 2 Lucan Sarsfields 0 - 1

A third Dublin Féile na nGael title for Naomh Jude after a thrilling win over Lucan Sarsfields.  Played on a fine sod before a great attendance at Tymon Park, Judes had the better start and after 4 minutes the excellent Nadia El-Tom Power hammered home a great goal from a well struck 45 by Aoife Molloy.

In Féile "first blood" can be vital and the score was a huge lift for the Tymon outfit.  Aided by a superb defence where captain Marion O'Donnell shone, Judes fought for every ball with fierce determination.  Caragh Dawson was having a great game and Aoife Molloy and Hannah Hegarty were also seen to great effect.

Aoife Molloy fired over two frees to extend Judes lead.  Lucan had their chances with Sadhbh Byrne, Tara Farmer and Jane Doran as well as the Murray sisters Eimear and Niamh never relented.

However over the 40 minutes they clocked up 7 wides to none for Judes and this was an important feature of the game.

Lucan pulled a point back from a superb long-range free by Ciara Casey but moments before that the outstanding Faye McCarthy in goals pulled off a great save from close range free from the same player.

Half-Time score Naomh Jude 1 - 2  Lucan Sarsfields 0 - 1

Aided slightly by the breeze in the second half, Lucan fought back ferociously but the Judes defence was outstanding and Clodagh Kilbane made a vital goal line block to deny Sarsfields shortly after the restart.

As time wore on Judes grew in confidence and struck the clinching goal from Eimear McCourt a minute from the end of normal time.

Division 2  Naomh Bríd 1 - 2  Whitehall Colmcille 0 - 4

This was a cracking game from start to finish played to a very high standard.  Naomh Bríd had the bulk of the possession and almost paid dearly for 10 wides to none for Whitehall in a game that ebbed and flowed.

Whitehall had a superb 'keeper in Emma Loo who brought off a string of great saves.  Shaunagh Harte opened the scoring for the Collins Avenue outfit with the first of three excellent points but after a trio of shots at goal - a number of them denied by Emma Loo, Naomh Bríd levelled with a point from Niamh O'Neill.

But by the 18th minute Whitehall were two in front after points from Danielle O'Neill and Shaunagh Harte.

With half-time looming, Naomh Bríd slipped in for a crucial score - a goal from Catherine Leahy to lead at the break by a point.

Ten minutes of excellent play passed before Katie Nyham broke the stalemate with a point for Naomh Bríd but the fighting spirit of Whitehall was much in evidence and with Emma Loo blocking everything that was thrown at her, the cut the gap to a single point with the best score of all three final  - a great effort by Shaunagh Harte.

But try as they did, Naomh Bríd with Niamh O'Neill  and Niamh McCarty in fine form held out for victory.

Player of the Match:  Emma Loo (Whitehall Colmcille)

Scorers:  Naomh Bríd - Catherine Leahy (1-0); Niamh O'Neill (0-1); Katie Nyham (0-1)

Whitehall Colmcille - Shaunagh Harte (0-3); Danielle O'Neill (0-1)

Division 3  Ballinteer St Johns 4 - 4  Kilmacud Crokes 0 - 1

Ballinteer St Johns turned on a superb display to see off the brave challenge of Kilmacud Crokes.  In Aoife Kelly, the Marlay Park outfit have a human dynamo.  She was simply everywhere and had a hand in several of the John's scores.

First off the mark in the 5th minute was Eleanor Aherne who also had a fine game.  Five minutes later,  Aoife Kelly set up Caoimhe Smith for Ballinteer's first goal.

Ballinteer's defence was outstanding so much the 'keeper Niamh Kilkenny had a troublefree day much of it thanks to the great play of half back Sophie Quinn.  Captain Aisling Brown's impressive striking of frees relieved many dangerous moments.  Eimear Stakelum (daughter of Dublin hurling selector Richie) battled hard for Crokes at midfield.

But Ballinteer struck a decisive blow just before half time when another Aoife Kelly delivery found its way to Grace O'Shea who goaled.

The door was firmly closed 5 minutes into the second half when Grace O'Shea grabbed her second goal.  Sarah Galvin in the Crokes' goal had earlier brought off a great save.

Crokes battled to the finish but Ballinteer had the scoring power and the possession and even managed to knock up 11 wides.  After points by Eleanor Aherne and Aisling Browne, the fourth goal came from the excellent Amber Traynor.

Scorers:

Ballinteer St Johns:  Grace O'Shea (2-0); Caoimhe Smith (1-0); Amber Traynor (1-0); Eleanor Aherne (0-3),

Kilmacud Crokes:  Niamh Egan (0-1)

Player of the Match:  Aoife Kelly (Ballinteer St Johns)
