Emphatic Second half scoring  display secures Dublin’s  Intermediate status for another year.

Dublin 2-16

Carlow 1-06

Dublin romped home thanks to a blistering 1-10 unanswered scoring in the second half to secure Division 2 status  in this afternoons Littlewoods Ireland National Camogie league relegation play off in St  Rynagh’s  Gaa grounds in Co. Offaly.

Dublin were well deserving of their 16 point win over a Carlow side that had no answer to a Dublin side that grew in strength and quality as the game went on.

At half time Carlow were still very much in the hunt with only a goal between the sides.

The second half proved too much for this Carlow side as Dublin began to flex the muscles and upped the pace of the game to their liking , with quick quality ball into their forward line, and the scores began to register on the scoreboard.Carlow would fail to register a score for the entire second half.

Carlow were first to score in the game in the very first minute with a converted free from Eleanor Treacy. Two minutes later Niamh Rock levelled matters.

Another pointed free from Eleanor Treacy put Carlow back in front, but a rapid 1-01 from Sinead Wylde gave Dublin a 3 point lead ,a lead they never surrendered.

Another successful free from Eleanor Treacy reduced the gap for  Carlow ,but Dublin hit the next four points, Niamh Rock with two frees and two from play from Evelyn Twomey and Sinead Wylde to lead by six.

Carlow kept in touch thanks mainly to a couple of frees converted by Eleanor Treacy followed by Carlow’s first from play scored by Ciara Quirke just on the half time whistle, leaving the half time score 1-06 to 0-06pts to Dublin.

Second half got under way and this is when Frank Browne’s  Dublin outfit went on the rampage!

Dublin made their possession count by reeling off 1-10 unanswered, all coming from play.

Two points from Niamh Rock ,and a hat-trick of points from  Aoibhe  Dillon followed by one from Grainne Power pushed Dublin’s lead out to nine points with as many minutes remaining in the game.

Dublin introduced Laura Walsh and and she made a telling contribution .Laura scored her first  point extending Dublin’s lead to ten.

Sinead Wylde split the posts again before Laura Walsh grabbed her second point following her introduction.

With two minutes remaining in the game after great play to create the opening in the Carlow defence Sinead Wylde  rifled to the net to register her ‘s and Dublin’s second goal of the game.
