Dublin bounce back with gutsy display

(27 Jun 2010)

Dublin went down to All-Ireland champions Cork in Round 3 of the Gala Championship but not without giving a hugely improved performance from the Wexford game.

The side battled to the finish and from the moment of Áine Power's goal - the team played with fantastic team spirit and no little ability.

Louise O'Hara pointed three first half frees but Dublin were unlucky not to have had a few more scores.

Facing into the breeze, the side did not relent and were rewarded with three excellent scores from play from Alison Maguire, Anne Kirwan and Ciara Lucey.

But this was a team performance from which every player can take positives.

Cork had quality performances from the likes of Gemma O'Connor, Orla Cotter and Jenny Duffy and deserved their win.

Dublin are away Kilkenny in Round 4 of 10 July.

Many thanks to Naomh Mearnóg for superbly hosting the game.
