DUBLIN'S PREMIER JUNIOR'S BOW OUT OF LEINSTER

Dublin 0-13 Kilkenny 6-10

Dublin's Premier Junior squad had a disappointing afternoon as they bowed out of the Intermediate Leinster Championship to a classy Kilkenny side who were clinical in front of goal.

Dublin were looking to bounce back after last weekends League Final defeat and they started brightly. Two minutes in and ace free taker Georgina Kelly got the ball rolling with a well struck free.
Kilkenny struck back with the first point from play of the game from Sarah Ann Quinlan

Dublin had a raft of injuries coming into the game and six minutes in lost another player as Christina O'Reilly had to be replaced with what looked like a bad shoulder injury.

When play resumed the ball was played into the left corner forward position and Dublin's vice-captain Elaine Gallery won the ball turned inside her marker and hit a beauty of a point from an acute angle to give the girls in blue the lead again.

Kilkenny then went on the rampage scoring an unanswered 2-03. The
Points came from Jenny Clifford,Sarah Crowley and Deirdre Walsh and the two goals were provided by Jenny Clifford and Sarah Walsh.

Dublin responded with four quick points a free from Georgina Kelly was sandwiched between three excellent points from play, two from Elaine Gallery and the other from Jennifer Browne.

Just as it looked like the dubs were on a roll,Kilkenny's Sarah Walsh struck for her second goal of the half and in injury time Sarah Ann Quinlan extended the black and Amber lead with a well taken free. At the break the girls in blue had a mountain to climb with the score Dublin 0-06,Kilkenny 3-05

Dublin made three changes at the break in an effort to get back into the game,on came Meggan O'Reilly,Carolanne Canning And Laura Mulvey who added much needed pace, power and urgency to the Dublin attack.

Dublin just like the first half got the first score of the second thirty minutes a super point from play scored by Georgina Kelly. But in two devastating minutes Kilkenny killed off the contest with two clinical goals. The first from Sarah Walsh completed her hat-trick and then Jenny Clifford grabbed her second goal of the day as the Dublin defence parted like the Red Sea.

Dublin to their credit never dropped their heads and battled on. Another pointed from free Georgina Kelly was canceled out by a point from play by Kilkenny's Sarah Ann Quinlan.
Kilkenny's Deirdre Walsh and Dublin's Laura Keoghan traded points before Niamh Bambrick put the final nail in the Dublin coffin with another fine finish to the back of the Dublin net.

Kilkenny hit two more points scored by the ever dangerous Jenny Clifford and Claire Aylward to push the lead even further out. But Dublin were not going to go out of the game with a whimper and hit the next four points, two frees from the ever accurate Georgina Kelly, a brilliant point from play from the energetic Meggan O'Reilly and a free from Elaine Gallery.

Just before the Gallery point Dublin's long injury list got a little longer when Jennifer Browne had to go off with a hand injury. As the game headed into injury time Kilkenny had the last say in the game with a point from play from Sarah Ann Quinlan and the girls in black and amber had completed a fine victory.

Dublin will now have a few weeks break to regather themselves and get their players back off the injury list and prepare for an assault on their All Ireland campaign.
