Well done to Dave Dunning, his backroom team and the Intermediate Girls on a great win over Kildare in round 2 of the Liberty Insurance All Intermediate Camogie Championship at Parnells GAA Club , Coolock on Saturday 29th June
Full Time Score - Dublin 2.14 v Kildare 1.11
After falling to the hands of Kilkenny in the 1st round of the Championship this win over Kildare was welcomed.
The girls are not playing that long together and are getting better and better each week.
Manager Dave Dunning made 7 cahnges to the team that played Kilkenny. One can see that the girls are really playing as a team. there was some great support play and hand passing throughout the match.
The Couch sisters were an example of this, a number of times , the unselfish midfielder Jody picked out her sister Gaby with a long balls assisting her sister to score a tally of 2.02.
Dublin's corner forward the lively Alix Buckley
who scored 2 beautiful points from play caused trouble for the Kildare corner back Aine O'Neill throughout the match who ended up getting a second yellow which left a free player for Dublin. Siobhan Hurley was undoubtlay the best player for Kildare. Her free taking was exceptional, scoring 9 frees.
Mary Cronin stood out for Dublin scoring 1 point from play but was unlucky not to have her handpassed goal allowed.
Cliothna Nicolletti, Dublin's Intermediate Free taker was on form scoring 4 points from frees.
Stef Carthy who has moved to Na Fianna from Naomh Mearnog is a great addition to the Dublin Intermediate team. Stef, having being involved with with the Dublin Premier Juniors in previous years with Manager Dave Dunning before he briefly moved to manage the Laois Camogie team, but is now back with Dublin.
