An Rúnaí, Mona O'Sullivan, has sent guidelines on the above rules to all club secretaries. It is imperative that all team mentors and club officials are aware of their implications before submitting requests for Registrations, Transfers and Regradings to the County Board on Monday 30 January.
Rule 29.1 (An Treoraí Ofigiúil)
Any player who plays a higher graded Championship in the current playing year is not eligible thereafter to play in a lower graded league or championship. This applies to all graded competitions e.g. adult and under-age A, B or C.
Guidelines to our clubs re. Rule 29.1
Adult Players:
An adult player who plays up to any higher grade in League retains her registered status.
An adult player who plays up to a higher grade in Championship cannot subsequently play at her registered grade. She will need to be re-graded in the following January.
Examples:
• A registered Junior A player can play up to Intermediate A, B or C and/or Senior A, B or C in League and still retain her Junior status.
• A registered Junior A player who plays up to Intermediate A, B or C and/or Senior A, B or C in the Championship cannot play Junior A again in that season.
• A registered Junior A player cannot play on a Junior B or C team.
• A registered Junior B or C player can play Junior A.
• A registered Junior B or C player who plays Junior A in Championship cannot then play at her registered grade.
Juvenile Players
A Juvenile player can play up to any higher age-group, A, B or C in League and still retain their registered status. A Juvenile C graded player can play up to a higher grade A or B in her registered age group in Championship but she cannot play again at her registered C grade.
Examples:
• An under 13A registered player can play up to any Juvenile team A, B or C in League and still retain her under 13A status.
• An under 13A registered player cannot play on an under 13B or 13C team.
• An under 13B registered player who plays under 13A Championship cannot play under 13B again in that season.
• An under 16 player can play to any adult team in League or Championship and still retain her under-age status.
• If an U13B player played U14A Championship in 2011 she will need to be re-graded to play U14B in 2012.
Please note Rule 28.4 regarding age criteria of under-age players.
A player must meet the following age criteria:
to play under 12 - a player must be under 12 and over 8
to play under 14 – a player must be under 14 and over 10
to play under 16 – a player must be under 16 and over 12.
to play under 18 – a player must be under 18 and over 14
to play Adult – a player must be over 15 except in the case of inter-county competitions where a player must be over 16.
“under” and “over” age limit means a player must be under/over the age limit on 31 December of the year prior to the championship year.
to play under 16 a player must be 15 or younger on 31 December of the year prior to the championship year.
to play under 14 a player must be 10 years of age on the 31 December of the year prior to the Championship.
