Championships defy the rain as Lucan make history

(23 Oct 2011)

The rain may have pelted down mercilessly but the smiles on the Lucan faces were broad as the club added the U13A and U15A titles to the U14A and U16A crowns won on Saturday to claim a complete haul of the top awards.

A wonderful reward for a lot of hard work.

The rain made it extremely difficult for players, referees and spectators but the efforts on the field were huge.

In the Under 13B decider, we had a thriller right to the finish with the Tymon Park outfit forcing a draw with a late free.  Naomh Mearnóg had the edge on Crumlin in the U15B decider - Jennifer Kiernan battled bravely for the latter while Crumlin had better luck in a great game with Naomh Pádraig who were only two points down with minutes left.

Lucan Sarsfields confirmed their supremacy with classy displays against the battling challenges of Naomh Bríd and St Oliver Plunketts Eoghan Ruadh in the U13A and U15A finals.
