Camogie Notes Monday 17th October

Louise O’Hara.

Louise O’Hara (Erins Isle) has announced her retirement from intercounty camogie. Louise has been an outstanding player and leader for Dublin over the years. We wish Louise all the best in her retirement. She will of course continue to play for her beloved Erins Isle.

We are Dublin Senior 3 final:

Congratulations to Kilmacud Crokes who defeated Faughs Celtic in a thrilling replay. We wish them every success when they play the Offaly champions, Shinroe, in the semi-final of the AIB Leinster Intermediate championship.

We are Dublin Senior 4 and 5 finals:

Congratulations to Naomh Padraig who got the better of Cuala to claim the Senior 4 championship and to Whitehall Colmcille who  defeated Cumann Baire Chaoimhín to capture the Senior 5 title – their first championship title in 21 years..

We are Dublin Senior 6, 7A and 7B finals:

Senior 6, 7A and 7B are currently at the concluding stages with the finals scheduled for Sunday 30th October. Venues and times for all championships TBC.

Juvenile championships:  What a busy weekend of juvenile camogie as 17 juvenile championship finals and 17 juvenile shield finals will take place as scheduled on Saturday and Sunday 22nd and 23rd October. This is a massive undertaking and it is very important that all clubs are fully aware of and adhere to all the arrangements for these finals. Check www.dublincamogie.ie for all juvenile championship details.

Referees: There are 34 juvenile finals this weekend and a named referee has been assigned to each final. This is indicative of the progress that has been made with referees in the capital over the last number of years. Well done to Garry Beagan who has overseen this improvement.

Minor championships:

Minor championship has started. All games are scheduled to start at 11 o’clock. Check website for fixtures and results.

Shinty trip to Scotland:

Best wishes to players and management who travel to Scotland for the Shinty/Camogie tournament in Inverness from Friday to Sunday 21st-23rd October. As part of this three year arrangement Shinty Scotland will come to Dublin next year and Dublin Camogie will again visit Scotland in 2018. Check the Dublin camogie website for details of the travelling panel.
