COMMERCIALS CAMOGIE CLUB LAUNCH

(14 Mar 2011)

Saturday 19th March will mark a new era for camogie in South County Dublin with the launch of Commercials Camogie Club. The Hurling and Camogie Clubs are combining a club open day from 11am-1pm to mark the occasion of ‘Camogie in Rathcoole’ whilst showing off the wonderful facilities they have to offer to the wider Rathcoole area for both boys and girls. Dublin Senior Hurler David "Dotsie" O’Callaghan and Former All-Ireland Winning Dublin Camogie Captain Ann McCluskey will be on hand to show off their skills and officially launch the Club.

There have been girls playing hurling in Commercials for a number of years so it was decided last year to try these get the girls playing by themselves and to set up a camogie section for 2011. The ground work of the last year has paid off and Commercials Camogie Club has entered a U’13 and U’11 team into juvenile leagues in Dublin this year. They will be hoping to expand on this for the future and all are welcome on Saturday to sample the game but also take part in some fun family activities like face painting and relays.

The open day is part of other planned St Patrick’s weekend celebrations the club has organised including a Ceili on the Saturday night in the clubhouse – entry to this is €5.
